Oklahoma City Solar Incentives

Oklahoma currently sits at 6th in the entire nation for solar potential, and now you may be eligible to take advantage of the 30% Federal Solar Tax Credit. The tax credit could make a significant reduction in the price of your OKC solar panels and combined with your potential energy savings and increased home value, makes going solar a worthwhile investment.

On top of all that, ADT Solar, an OKC solar company, also offers our 25-Year Labor Warranty, and Production Guarantee with each solar installation we perform. With all these things in mind, installing solar panels on your home in Oklahoma City is a no-brainer.

30% Federal Tax Credit (ITC)

There has never been a better time to get your solar panels in Oklahoma City. The federal government makes its easy and more affordable to make the switch to clean energy. With the Solar Federal Tax Credit (ITC), you may be eligible to get 30% of the total value of your solar panels back in tax credits. This tax credit includes solar batteries as well. And if you don’t use all the tax credits the first year, they roll over to the next tax year.

Oklahoma Net Metering

Another great way to increase your monthly savings is to take advantage of net metering. With net metering, any excess power that your solar panels produce is sent to your utility company’s grid. They credit your account for that electricity, and in turn, you reduce your electric bill even further.

The Oklahoma state government has caught onto this idea, and created a net metering law. It is now allowed throughout the entire Sooner State. Oklahoma Gas & Electric, which provides power to Oklahoma City, also offers net metering to customers with solar panels.

Utility Company

Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E)

  • The customer of OG&E must complete and submit the Preliminary Interconnection Site Review Request prior to interconnection. If needed, OG&E will provide the customer with a detailed description of any required modifications.

  • If the solar panel system exceeds 300 kW in size, the owner may be required to supply further paperwork.

  • Any credits from excess electricity produced by the solar panel system that are NOT used during a billing cycle shall be rolled over to the next billing cycle.

  • Excess credits can be rolled over indefinitely.

  • If the customer’s Net Excess Generation Credits is older than 24 months, and is equal to at least $100, the customer may elect to have OGE&E purchase the credits.

Solar Panels in OKC Increase Home Value

In addition to saving your hard-earned cash, and keeping the environment clean with renewable energy, you get one more benefit from your solar panels. That’s added value for your home or business. On average, for every $1 you save in electric bills, the value of your home goes up by $20. So even if you save just $100 in electric bills, your home has $2,000 added to its value. That’s not bad at all.

Choosing the best solar company in Oklahoma City

There are a lot of solar installers to choose from, but what should you look out for? Here’s a checklist of some of the most important things to look out for in a reputable solar company:

  1. Expertise: Your solar installer should be able to comfortably explain to you the process and function of a solar installation, and will likely have years of experience installing solar panel systems. Another sign to look out for is whether your solar company has roofing experience.
  2. In-house team: Research whether your company has an in-house team or subcontracts their solar installation employees. An in-house team will have professional training and procedures in place to make sure your solar installation runs smoothly.
  3. Credentials: A reputable solar company will have a state license to operate within the area. A professional solar company will have its license number listed on its website.
  4. Reputation: A reliable way of gauging the work and trustworthiness of your company is by reading reviews. A good solar company will receive excellent online reviews and shows prompt response times as well.
  5. Warranties: Making sure a solar company has excellent warranties in place to give you peace of mind after your installation. While chances are a professional solar installer will have your solar system running smoothly from the start, it’s good to have that reliability and assurance.
