Step 1 of 4:

Going solar in Las Vegas

As the lucky recipient of 294 days of sunshine, Vegas is well above the U.S. national average of 205 days. (1) And since solar panels perform best on sunny days, Sin City is an ideal place to go solar. This is especially true when you let ADT Solar handle your solar installation in Las Vegas.

The ADT Solar installation process is designed to ensure that your solar panel system meets your family’s energy needs. For this reason, your Solar Energy Specialist will start with a free consultation, energy consumption analysis and energy audit. This allows them to get an accurate big picture of your family’s energy usage and needs. In addition, we’ll inspect the condition of your roof to verify whether it’s suitable for Las Vegas solar panels.

From there, the fully licensed and insured ADT Solar team will install your solar power system and test it to make sure it’s working as it should. We’ll treat your home as if it was our own, which includes thoroughly cleaning up the site when we complete the installation. The entire process is easy on you and we take care of the details, so you don’t have to worry about them.

Take control of your bills with solar

To say that electricity rates in Las Vegas aren’t cheap is a major understatement. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Residents spend an average of $245 per month on their electricity bills. The yearly cost is about $2,940 ― 34% higher than the average national electric bill of $2,190. (2)

But you’re not stuck paying steep electric bills. Solar panels in Las Vegas can help you save money on energy costs**. And when you entrust your installation to ADT Solar, you get the reassurance of our power production guarantee. If your system doesn’t generate at least 95% of the annual estimated production for that 12-month period, ADT Solar will pay $.10 per kilowatt-hours (kWh) of the difference between your system’s actual production and the guaranteed production for that 12-month period. The 25-year power production guarantee is one way we stand behind our solar energy systems.

You also have the option to add a solar battery backup to your system. The benefits of doing so include being able to power your home with solar energy at night and during grid outages1. You could also earn credits on your electric bill from your utility provider through a program called net metering.

Las Vegas Solar Incentives, Tax Credits, & Rebates

If you decide to go solar, you’ll be eligible for some pretty great Las Vegas solar incentives. They can decrease the buyback period for homeowners who purchase their solar systems. Here, we break down the available incentives.

  • Federal solar tax credit – You can claim a credit for 30% of the cost of your solar panel system on your federal taxes if your system is eligible2.
  • Net metering – By participating in a net metering program, you can earn credits on future electric bills for the power produced by your solar panels3. (3)
  • NV Energy residential energy storage incentives – These solar incentives reward you for the amount of energy stored in your solar battery backup. (4)
  • Solar easement and rights – This incentive protects your right to easements for your solar energy system. (5)

Not only do solar panels save you money, they also add value to your home.

According to a comprehensive report done by the US Department of Energy and National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), they found that on average, solar panels add $20 of value for every $1 you save on your electric bill. So if you saved $200 a month on your electric bill with solar panels, you’d have an additional $4,000 of value-added to your home.

This was confirmed in 2015 when the Department of Energy and Berkeley Laboratory sought to determine if solar-enabled homes performed better in the real estate market. After analyzing 22,000 homes, they found that homes with solar panels fetched a higher asking price than those without. About $4/watt, which comes out to be around $15,000 for residential, depending on your home and solar energy system.

In addition, solar panels can help your property spend less time on the market. In another study done by NREL, they found that solar properties earned about 17% more at closing, in addition to selling 20% faster.

* Beginning 12 months after the date your system is operational and continuing for 25 consecutive years, for each 12-month period, ADT Solar guarantees that your system will generate at least 95% of the annual estimated production for that 12-month period, after accounting for degradation at the rate of .33% per year.  If your system does not produce the guaranteed amount for any 12-month period, and you notify ADT Solar within 2 years of the end of the applicable 12-month term, ADT Solar will pay $.10 per kWh of the difference between your system’s actual production and the guaranteed production for that 12-month period.  “Actual production” means the amount of electricity produced by your particular system, which is calculated using data provided by the system or an estimate prepared by ADT Solar.
** Savings vary depending on your energy consumption, system cost, home location and characteristics, and your utility’s policies.
1 Battery will power essential, or critical loads, only. Power available from battery during an outage varies depending on the loads connected, your energy consumption, and battery configuration. Your system, even with a battery, is not intended for use as a primary or back-up source for critical care including life support and other medical equipment.
2 If you have taxable income and own the system, you may qualify for the solar federal investment tax credit. It is your responsibility to determine your eligibility and to apply. Consult a qualified tax professional for assistance and details.
3 Net metering and similar excess or buyback programs vary by location and utility provider and are subject to change. Rates may go up or down and the money you may save, if any, may vary. For more information about rates, contact your power company.
